Once I was on vacation in southern California and I was stung by a jellyfish. It was on my toe and hurt a lot but I just stopped thinking about it after a while. The next day i put on some shoes and went to Disneyland. After a day of walking around my toe started to feel funny so I took off my shoe and sock and sure enough my toe was expanding. I did not know what to do because I was not sure how health insurance worked. It was then that it hit me, I was at Disneyland and for sure they had a first aid center. Well sure enough they did and they looked at my toe and told me how to treat it for free.
So you are probably wondering what the moral of the story is. When thinking back to this story it concerns me that I knew nothing about my health insurance and where I could go for coverage. When you are going to be traveling it is a good idea to have your health insurance provider’s number on hand so you can call and ask where you will be covered.
