I watched the inaguration of Obama today on CNN.com. It was fun to see the ceremony and watch a new president be sworn in. The last time a NEW president was sworn in was eight years ago when Bush (obviously) was sworn in and I was 17 years old-a senior in high school. I remember watching it, but I don’t really remember feeling like it was that big of a deal. That was, of course, just because I was in high school and more concerned with how hard practice was going to be or going through plays in my head to make sure I knew them before our big game. But, this inaguration has made me very interested in the political system as a whole. I find it intriguing to see how one man can seem to uplift a country so much as a whole.
While I didn’t actually vote for Obama, I’m still excited for something new. Something to get people involved in their communities and in helping local politics and service projects progress and grow. I don’t agree with all of his political views, but I do appreciate that he has inspired our country to try and be better citizens as a whole.
Hopefully it will be a good change and will surprise skeptics–like me (on a certain level)–and help implement programs and policies that will help our countries financial future-along with other political aspects. Good luck to him and to us!
