There are times in our lives when things happen that we just don’t (and can’t) plan for. Emergency situations that give you no warning. For example, medical bills. Accidents happen or procedures are needed. Hospitals and emergency rooms are pretty expensive. When things like that happen, you have to just roll with the punches and hope that you’re been wise in your savings. However, some things you do know are coming and can plan for.
I have a very good friend that is pregnant. I am so excited for her! It’s a fun and exciting time for her, but it’s also very stressful. We all know that babies cost money! The medical bills for delivery and pre/post natal visits can definitely add up. Luckily, she has insurance so won’t be burdened with the majority of the costs.
Aside from medical costs, there are definitely other aspects of having a child that can impact your personal budgeting plan. Events like having children, getting married, or moving to a new city are rather large life events. Sometimes you can get so excited about these events that you forget to plan out your finances to support these events.
As much as these are characterisitcs of “heart” decisions, they require thinking and planning as well. My best advice is to make sure to plan far in advance for any life events that will most likely happen at some point in the future (if they haven’t already).
Personal budgeting ideas and plans are essential in creating a less stressful envirnment for when these big life events happen. As always-the best aspect of personal budgeting is to plan ahead!
There’s a girl at my work that just got pregnant today, and she was talking about having NOT done this exact thing. I think it’s super important to plan on things like this.
